Sydnie: Week 12

http://www.livestrong.com/article/517636-homecooked-meals-vs-fast-food-meals/

Home cooked meals are obviously healthier than fast food. Fast foods are typically higher in calories, saturated fat, sodium, and sugars. However, regardless of fast foods being unhealthy, people continue to eat. Why? Because of the fast paced schedule that consume our daily lives. Although home cooked meals take more time to make, it is still much cheaper than fast food. Also, the food is fresh and free of any contaminants. Eating out all the time significantly elevates the risks of health problems and obesity. In a recent study, participants who ate fast food more than twice a week gained about 4.5 kg and were twice more resistant to insulin. Fast food meals also differ from home cooked meals in terms of serving sizes. Compared to eating at home, serving sizes in a restaurant are twice the size of what is considered normal in the household. Therefore, eating at home is way more beneficial than eating fast food.
