Rio Grande de Manati is a very popular river among the locals
that is used recreationally. It was named an impaired water as of 2002 by the
Environmental Quality Board because it was contaminated with livestock feces,
urban runoff, and landfills and wastewater waste. I believe this article will
benefit my article in that it is now a success story since the once
contaminated water and has now been approved for recreation.
