The Children’s Aid Society is a great website to find statistics and general information about my topic of childhood obesity. According to the New York City Department of Health, 43% of public elementary school students are overweight and 76% of New York City children are not getting the recommended five daily servings of fruit and vegetables. This society helps kids in poverty thrive for success. In 2003, this organization came out with Go!Healthy, a program to educate children on healthy cooking and eating. This website contains youtube videos of events planned to encourage children to live a healthier life as well as blog tabs of different subtopics regarding childhood obesity. The Children’s Aid Society conducted a study showing the effects of bad eating habits while sitting in front of television. This website is very helpful towards my topic and I believe I will use a lot of this information in my paper.
